Gobble Gobble

This old fellow seemed proud to show off his feathers. So I'll help him out by posting him here in all his regalia.

One Red Rose

Apples

This one was part of my February 12 of 12 as well. Just looking at this made me go and cut up and eat one. Gala was the apple of choice... crisp, sweet, and the skin isn't too tough. Produce number 4135, I don't know if that is universal throughout the world, but my guess it is.

Moonlight - Eclipse, Full Moon

Green Sea Turtle

The green sea turtle eats the seaweed around the reefs surounding Hawaii. Afterward they like to rest, bask and digest their food on the beaches. If they are frightened back in the sea while they're still lethargic, they run a higher risk of being food for tiger sharks. They set up ropes and signs around the turtles to keep people away. There are big fines (including jail time) for those who don't heed the warnings.

Cocktail

Being a strutting rooster, I couldn't get his head in focus, but his "cocktail" is.

P.S.
Perhaps I should clarify... the strutting rooster causing the motion blur is the one in front of the camera, not the one behind the lens.

Beach

Reminded me a bit of Gilligan's Island. This might have been one of the locations. It was filmed on location in Hawaii. The opening scene showing the marina looks much the same today as it did back then.

Eucalyptus

The striped bark on this Eucalypytus tree really caught my eye.

Surf

Unfortunately, there wern't any of the infamous giant waves except those that kept us from making port at Hilo. These were the best waves I was able to capture.

Shadows

I liked the way the palm leaves made these shadows in the sand.

Painted Church

Here is a photo of the ceiling inside the Painted Church. The Hawaiins never did anything inside, except sleep and shelter themselves from bad weather. So the Belgian monks who built the church, in order to get the locals inside, panted six large murials and the ceiling.

Fountain

This is a fountain at the France Pavilion in EPCOT.

Sorcerer's Hat

This giant version is from one of the earliest and best of Disney's feature cartoons, The Sorcerer's Apprentice. This is taken from my mothers workplace, MGM Studios (now called Disney Hollywood Studios)

Tree of Life

Here is one view of the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. I can't say for sure that the images are carved, but they are made to give that impression.

Clouds

Here is an infared shot I took coming into port at the island of Kaua'i.

Kittys

I took several photos of the three tigers at Animal Kingdom. This is one of my favorites.

Humpback Whale

After I missed out on two previous opportunities to capture images of Humpback whales, I got one final chance when the ship cruised along the isolated Na Pali coast. I took several shots, but as you can imagine it's not easy to capture them before they disappear beneath the waves again. This is the best shot out of 30 I had taken.

Na Pali Coast

Here's a veiw of the rugged Na Pali Coast on the island of Kaua'i. Most of this side of the island is only accessible by helicopter or boat.

Tikis

Here are a couple of Tikis at Pu'uhomua o Homaumau National Park.

Fish

These are the koi at a replica buddist temple at the Valley of the Temples on the island of Oahu.

Sunset

Sunset from off the Kona coast of Hawaii.

Sunrise

Sunrise over Diamond Head. Taken from Waikiki. Oh, to be in paradise.

Rainbow

I saw several rainbows while in Hawaii. Many more beautiful than this, but this was the best one I could capture. The ship in the photo was on a 3 month cruise... must be nice to have nothing better to do.

Sparkle

I used a 8 pointed star filter to get this effect.

Jagged Wall

Here's a photo of a stone and mortar wall. The walls are usually no taller than 4 foot and they use three rows of jagged stones along the top of the wall. You can find this style of masonry throughout the Philadelphia area. The area is riddled with glacial rock. I'm sure this is the source is the stone used in these walls. The age of this wall, I'm not sure, but the road is route 1... one of the oldest roads in the US, but the houses look no older than early 20th century. The composition was inspired by the perspective in Bill Z's Fence

Red Amaryllis

Look what came out to play today. My niece gave me an amaryllis bulb for Christmas. The first bud opened up today. It looked like a good subject to photograph, so I did. I would have put it under the theme "Flower" or "Bulb", but they aren't listed, so red it is.

In case your interested, or not, I bracketed the shot with and without flash and with two different lenses. I ended up using a shot with my 70-210mm set to 145mm, 1.3 sec shutter speed, f/10, and using a flash off camera.

Vintage Cultivator

On my walk today I went to see Jimmy M. He's a golf pro and a close colleague of the retired GM from my old work place (Jack). Jack was a golf pro like Jimmy as well as a GM. The club I went to is called McCall Field, but everyone calls it PECO because it belongs to Philadelphia Electric co. This is the first time I visited the place, since moving here 7 years ago even though it's only a ten minute walk away. I saw this old cultivator and thought it was photo worthy. By the way Jimmy wasn't there and the pro shop was closed. Strange, being it was just past noon and it's been unseasonably warm the past few days. I'll have to stop by again some other day.

P.S.
I found out from Jack that Jimmy's pro shop is closed during the off season. I don't know when I'll have a chance to get back to see him since I've taken a position almost 2 hours away.

Coffee

Coffee and Cheese - two of my main food groups. I think doing the food themes should be a breeze for me.

Cheese

This is my first entry... Cheese.
